The hobble skirt, a slim silhouette what would be worn with large over sized hats, became very popular at this time.

The new silhouette was now a Empire line with vertical lines and high waists.

In the 1900's the full, curvy silhouette moved to the long lean empire silhouette. Paul Poiret was part of this movement at this time.
