The 2000s

 
 Fashion in the 2000's is open to every style where trends are being re created from times of our parents, when they say "oh I used to wear them when I was younger"
The Big names of this time are Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs just to mention a few.  
Slim Fit jeans

A whole new look came to this time away from baggy denim to the the slim fit jeans and sometimes skinny. Teenagers would wear them not on their waists but lower especially boys. Alexander McQueen to this also to a new level with the low rise bumbster jeans.

Not just a pretty face

Models are not just a pretty face or able to walk in straight lines, they are more look up to by people especially younger girls to know what their wearing. Kate Moss has her collections for High Street fashion like Topshop.
 

Cara Delevingne take over! Making every designer wanting her to be the face of there brand. She doesn't just wear their style she has her own, with her becoming more and more peoples style icon. Even with everyone wanting to dress her shes still been able to adapt her own style of just a young and fresh.

Extreme Platform shoes 
These were shoes that were at great height first seeing them on the runway and models wobbling to celebrities, especially Lady Gaga

90s style icons

Drew Barrymore

Was an Icon in the 1990s with her flower sweet wild look, the actress became one of the main style stars. She did nearly every look from grunge dark makeup, to daisy chain, but that was her look with her short hair and tattoos.

 

The Spice Girls

In the mid 90s Britain's was invaded by five ladies in over the top outfits with each their own identity. The Spice Girls celebrated girl power and individuality, so Scary, Baby, Ginger, Sporty, and Posh each had their unique looks that young women all over the world admired. We take the  platform shoes, pigtail buns, and lots of body glitter, from the Spice Girls. 

 

 

90's

 The 1990's was a time of pop culture and music. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was a trendsetter with Will smith wearing  colorful tracksuit and Jordan's. The Hip-hop group TLC often performed in over sized t-shirts and mens shorts, with big colorful accessories.

In the early '90s, Kate Moss came into Fashion and changed the fashion world forever.

This was the time when the teenaged model was part of the  androgyny and incredibly slim figures. One of Moss' first campaigns was for Calvin Klein. 

1880's

 

Shoulder pads, mini skirts, leg warmers, huge earnings, fingerless gloves and over sized tops were the trends of the 1980's. Style Icons such as Madonna and Grace Jones. The 1980's look a time of exercise with the tights and legwarmers with leotards.

This was a time to make a statement with big bright clothes and accessories. 

1970's Punk Movement

The punk movement, Started by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, it was a reaction to the poor state of the economy as they wanted to change fashion for the better. The punk's wardrobe included worn leather jackets, ripped jeans, torn T-shirts, PVC and safety pins, with bold hair styles like Mohicans and crazy dyed colours.

70's

 

The 1970's were known for flares, platform shoes, Vivienne Westwoond and the Hippy boho look. Glamorous rockers like David Bowie, Music helped influence the 1970s style, with plenty of metallic, glitter, hot pants, boas and sheer blouses.

Twiggy

Twiggy

The Iconic Twiggy was the face of the 1960's, being the model and trendsetter especially for the mod movement with her pixie hair and cartoon like eye makeup.

1960's

1960's was time for shift dresses, mini skirts, block colors and mod. Compared to the 1950's with pastel colors to the replacement bright block colors was a big move

This was the time for resort wear 

Beach wear was huge in this time even to the point where St Tropez held annual fashion shows.

These were the chosen, popular shoes of the 50's but would be worn with an overall style of Bryll styled hair and black trousers this created the toughness and streetwise impression.

1950's Women

It was not just about fashion in the 1950's, hair was too having big hair such as the most popular bee hive the bigger the better.

An hour-glass figure was the look of the 1950's. Tiny waistlines, and accentuated hips and busts. The iconic look for women was Marilyn Monroe, where women and men adored her

1950's Men

A time of Music and Rebelling

Elvis Presley was a huge icon in this time for the bad boy look with leather jackets tight trousers and the clean slick back hair

1950's

Drain Pipe Trouser
Men in the 1950's would wear drain pipe trouser where the trouser would be more slimmer towards the bottom.  

Making do

Women were now required to join the work force, where Nylon stockings were rationed so the women in stead made do and started to wear trousers.

1940-1947

The Fashion industry came to a halt, where there became clothes rationing and there was a general shortages

New Look

The new feminine fashion looks was put to one side during the war and was recreated again in 1947 by Christina Dior.

Short Bolero jackets

      Short Bolero Jackets were worn with gloves, this was more etiquette during the day and in the evening the gloves would match the gowns.

Change in shape

Women wanted more of the feminine look with a rounded bust, long hair, frills, with now the forehead wanting to be shown. This was a change in look compared to the 1920's with the Vamp look. 

Men Suits

Even men with little money would make an effort to have a 'Sunday best'. Burtons became an affordable mens clothing at the time.

Sophisticated image

Compared to the wild daring 1920's "flappy girl" look, women would try harder to look more sophisticated and and appear nice all the time this made people wear there Sunday best. This was a time where it was more quite and better to act more respectable.

1930-1940

A financial issue came up what made a big divide between the rich and poor.
The rich were able to still shop at expensive boutiques and keep two homes. On the other hand the poor would like in small homes with no running water.

Exposed Look

The Fashion industry started to create a more exposed look for women usually for the evening. the look would have long line sleeveless bodices, these would have plunge cut backs with bias cutting and drapes.
